Three Balancing Breakfast Recipes

All the conventional wisdom these days talks about balancing your gut – people even call it the second brain! Here are three foods you may not have tried to balance your gut that come from the tradition of Ayurveda:

1. Banana Nut Porridge: This warm, lovely breakfast recipe is one of my favorites. It comes from a great blog, Against All Grain. “The recipe requires soaking the nuts overnight. This helps make them blend smoothly into the porridge, but most importantly aids with digestion. Soaking nuts breaks down the phytic acid which acts as an anti-nutrient and can wreak havoc on the digestive tract.” While not from a traditional Ayurvedic food blog, I feel like it follows the principles of whole, nutritious food so I included it here. It’s easy and so delicious!

2. Body-Kind Coffee: “Coffee is stimulating and depleting, but adding butter & coconut oil can help mitigate the harmful effects of coffee. Grass-fed butter 26360-Body-Kind-Coffeeand nourishing coconut oil contain stable, healthy saturated fats that soothe your nerves and help protect your stomach lining from acidic coffee.
